Trans---~Formation

Trans---~Formation is a trans-media virtual environment interpretation, created by 3 artists and one virtual world avatar, of a formation of modular kinetic objects along with accompanying music and images.  It was originally created in November 2007 by Austin Tate and Ai Austin based on a design for a robotic sculpture by Richard Brown, and now has its new home on the VCE region in Second Life, and a clone is on the OpenVCE region on the Openvue grid in OpenSim which can be visited via the OpenSimulator Hypergrid.  Make sure you have media playing to listen to the soundtrack and see the associated images by Julian Wagstaff.

NewVue and NewVCE on New World Grid

The welcome region on new World Grid has teleport posters to get to NewVue (the OpenSim-based Virtual University of Edinburgh region on New World Grid) and NewVCE (the OpenVCE region on New World Grid).

The New World University has opened on the OpenSimulator-based New World Grid using the OpenVCE 3D virtual world asset base.

Tests of Mesh Import to Second Life Beta Grid and OpenSim 0.7.1 Live Grid

Tests on 26-Oct-2010 of Mesh import to Second Life Beta Grid and live 0.7.1 OSGrid using current SL Viewer Beta 2.2 for Mesh Support. See http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Mesh for more information.

Exported to 3DS format, and then through Blender and exported to Collada 1.4 .dae format.

The mesh was imported using the upload facility in the Beta Test Mesh Viewer. There were quite a few failures in upload in both Second Life and OpenSim. So some elements of the model are missing in the uploaded mesh.

The model as seen in the Second Life Viewer Mesh Beta is rendered in a reasonable fashion and is shown here after "Generate LOD" has been used:
