Limited Objective Experiments
Scenario: H1N1 Outbreak
- scale of the outbreak: few cases to global pandemic?
- location (if not global)? in/near military base (US)
- what level of expertise will the subjects have? e.g. CDC will be very knowledgable
- who will produce a credible initial scenario and provide injects? Contacts? Adapt existing scenarios.
- scenario: bioterrorism (hint in initial info)
- some resources at http://openvce.net/h1n1
Aims:
- what are we evaluating in the different experiments? (collaboration protocol for expt 1 and expt 2, virtual collaboration environment, OpenVCE web site)
- what are we going to measure during the experiment, if anything?
- specific questions to be answered?
Experiment 1
Dates: Nov. 16-20, 2009
Features:
- 2 teams, 5-7 people each
- subjects should attend VIWS-3?
- subjects should be physically distributed (to avoid non-virtual interaction)
- use "Brain" to pull in more people - what if these new people do not have SL presence / not seen OpenVCE before?
- injects: how can we tell they are stalling?
Experiment 2
Dates: Jan. 25-29, 2010
Features:
- 2 teams, 5-7 people each (as for expt 1) - same people/teams?
- note: first half of collaboration protocol is largely about introducing the team to each other
- continuation of expt 1? (challenge!)
Experiment 3 (Final)
Dates: Feb. 22-26, 2010
Features:
- 2 teams, 7+ people each - same people/teams?
