OpenVCE

OpenVCE is an Open Source Virtual Collaboration Environment linking aspects of a social networking site for a community with virtual worlds meeting spaces.

VCE - Virtual Collaboration Environment:

An initial Community of Interest is to be supported using off-the-shelf commercial products. As well as giving immediate access to some of the desired core functionality, this approach is intended to allow the Community to establish its full requirements for a collaboration environment. The initial support will be provided through a representative virtual worlds platform, links to a community web site, and add-on tools. Commerical products under consideration include:

• Social Network for a Group such as Facebook and/or Ning
• Second Life™ (Linden Research, Inc.)

• Apache, MySQL and PHP
• Joomla with appropriate extensions 
• Opensim
