Virtual Iterative Workshop Series (VIWS-1)

Title: Introduction
Date: September 28, 2009
Duration: 2 hours (no travel required)
Purpose: Initiate interactions with a small subset of the whole of society crisis response (WoSCR) community and introduce the project efforts. The event will be hosted in the 3D environment and be limited to no more than 80 attendees. The topics to be presented will be:

Title: Collaboration Capabilities
Date: October 15, 2009
Duration: 2 hours (no travel required)
Purpose: Introduction of the collaborative capabilities developed to-date and the elicitation of feedback from the community regarding their collaboration needs and desires. Title: H1N1 Crisis Content

Purpose: Preparation for the upcoming scenario driven experiment series on a H1N1 outbreak. The presentation of related resources and data will be presented to the community in order to obtain feedback on what is useful and desirable for a pandemic crisis planning.
Virtual Collaboration Environment Experiment (VCEE-0)

Title: Virtual Collaboration Environment (VCE) - Tests
Date: December 14-18, 2009
Duration: 5 days (not continuous & no travel required)
Purpose: OpenVCE.net team and others in WoSCR community to test VCE support for a scenario driven (H1N1 outbreak) experiment.
Virtual Collaboration Environment Experiment (VCEE-1)
Status: Completed
Title: Virtual Collaboration Protocol (VCP) Experiment
Date: January 25-29, 2010
Duration: 5 days (not continuous & no travel required)
Purpose: Host a scenario driven (H1N1 outbreak) experiment to continue the investigation of the virtual collaboration protocol (VCP) only after modifications have been made to the VCP from experiment-1. Two small planning teams with members from non-government, government, and military agencies will plan actions in response to the H1N1 outbreak scenario. One team will use the VCP while the other will not while both teams will use the same collaboration technologies.

Virtual Collaboration Environment Experiment (VCEE-2)

Title: Virtual Collaboration Protocol & Environment
Date: February 22-26, 2010
Duration: 5 days (not continuous & no travel required)
Purpose: Host a scenario driven (H1N1 outbreak) experiment to investigate the effectiveness of the virtual collaboration protocol (VCP) and the virtual collaboration environment (VCE = collaboration portal & 3D environment). Two moderate sized planning teams with members from non-government, government, and military agencies will plan actions in response to the H1N1 outbreak scenario. One team will use the VCP+E while the other will use traditional means (email, phone, video-conferencing, etc.).
